What should I wear for my first class?
All you really need for your first class is comfortable clothing that is free from metal buttons or zippers. Sweat pants, yoga pants, board shorts or something similar will work just fine.
Do I need to be in shape?
Absolutely not. We have students at all fitness levels, and encourage you to work at a pace that is suitable for you. We will help you get into shape, even if you haven't been active in many years.
Do I need prior experience?
You do not. We will teach you everything you need to know, starting with foundational skills.
What should I expect in class?
Typically, classes are about 90 minutes long. The first 20 to 30 minutes is spent warming up doing drills and various calisthenics. After warm-ups and stretching, we work on the techniques for the week. Classes end with 20 to 30 minutes of sparring. This is where you work to apply your technique against other students in class.
